Who we are

Luke Anderson

I started Guitar Academy Scotland to offer the kind of lessons I wish I had growing up, structured, creative, and delivered by qualified professionals.

Hi, I’m Luke, a professional guitarist, educator, and founder behind Guitar Academy Scotland. I hold both a Bachelor's and Master’s degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, an ABRSM Teaching Diploma with Distinction, and I’ve had the privilege of learning from world-class guitarists from around the globe.

My dream is that students of all levels and ages have access to high-quality guitar tuition in Scotland. Whether you are a complete beginner, an adult learner, have aspirations to become a professional musician or would like to learn just for fun. We offer a wide range of options to choose from.

FAQs Guitar Academy Scotland

All students are currently taught by Luke Anderson or Ryan Martin

Our students typically have a regular lesson slot but any changes necessary are made a week in advance

Lessons can be delivered either online or in person at our dedicated teaching studio, depending on your preference. You can choose the option that best suits your schedule and learning style.

Please bring a guitar with you for your lesson. We can provide a guitar if you don't have one. We’ll also discuss the materials you’ll need, which will be tailored to your individual needs. Just come prepared, enthusiastic, and ready to dive into your lessons!

Invoices are sent at the beginning of each month and paid via bank transfer. We kindly ask that payments be made in advance of lessons. This helps ensure a smooth scheduling process and guarantees your lesson time.

We understand that things come up, and sometimes lessons need to be rescheduled. We kindly ask for at least one week’s notice where possible. If appropriate notice is given, we can offer a credit on the following month’s invoice.

Yes, you get to choose what we focus on in lessons. We want your learning experience to be tailored to your interests and goals. If you're unsure, don't worry—we can work it out together! Most importantly, we want your lessons to be fun and inspiring, so if something isn't resonating, we can always adjust the content.

No, grade exams are not required—it's completely up to you and your personal preferences. However, for students who do wish to pursue them, we encourage this as it provides a great goal to work towards and helps measure progress.

The amount of practice depends on your goals and how much time you want to dedicate to your playing. We believe in practicing in small, consistent sessions rather than overloading yourself with long hours. Regular practice, even for shorter periods, tends to be more effective and enjoyable.

Yes, parents are welcome to sit in on lessons, and we encourage this to observe their child's progress and stay involved in their learning journey.
